Change of Address Checklist for Singapore Residents (Expat Guide)
Most of us who come here do not buy a home. We rent, we stay a year or two, and then we move again. That is just how life works in Singapore for a foreign worker. MOM data puts the foreign workforce at around 1.5 million people, and the vast majority of us are renting. So changing your address is not a rare event here. It is something you do again and again.
I did not realise how many places quietly hold your address until I moved. You update the obvious ones, and then weeks later something important lands at the flat you already left. A bank letter. A card renewal. A tax notice.
I had just spent 50 months in an HDB unit in Woodlands, and when I finally moved, I could not find a single list of everywhere the address needed changing. So I made one as I went. This is that list.
One tip before the checklist. Some systems let you set a future effective date. If yours does, update it about a week before you move and set the effective date to your moving day. That way nothing slips through the gap between the two homes.
I am assuming two things are already handled. Your internet is transferred or newly applied for at the new place, and your PUB utilities account is set up for the new place. Those are not address changes, so they are not on this list.
And if you live here with your partner 🥰, remind them to do the same. Half of these accounts are in their name, not yours.

One that people miss: any account you created by logging in through SingPass must be resynced after your address updates in the SingPass portal, or it quietly keeps the old one.

Moving is stressful enough without a letter you needed going to an address you no longer live at. You cannot control how many systems hold your details. You can control whether you update them all in one sitting instead of finding out the hard way.
