The Best No-Contract 5G SIM-Only Plan in Singapore: My Personal Pick

Picking a mobile plan in Singapore sounds simple until you actually open the comparison sites. There are more than fifteen telcos, each with three or four plans, and the offers change almost every month. It is easy to spend an evening on it and still feel unsure.

I went through that myself. Rather than chase the absolute cheapest number, I worked out what I actually needed, then found the plan that matched. This is the one I landed on, and why.

First, the networks behind the telcos

The fifteen-plus telcos are not fifteen networks. They all run on one of four:

1. Singtel
2. StarHub
3. M1
4. Simba

That matters, because the network decides your real-world coverage and speed, not the brand on the SIM. According to Open Signal’s Mobile Network Experience Report, Singtel has the best 5G coverage experience in Singapore.

So I narrowed my search to telcos that run on the Singtel network. A few of them:

1. Singtel
2. ZYM Mobile
3. VIVIFI
4. GOMO
5. heya
6. Zero1

What I actually needed

Before comparing prices, I wrote down my must-haves. This is the step most people skip, and it is the one that makes the choice easy.

• 5G, for the fastest speeds
• More than 100GB of data a month
• More than 500 minutes of talk time
• 2GB of roaming data for Malaysia, since I travel there often

With that list in hand, the shortlist wrote itself. ZYM Mobile’s ROAM SMART plan fit every line.

The plan I chose

Here is what ZYM Mobile’s ROAM SMART gave me for S$15.20 as of 28 December 2024:

• 5G forever, because I ported in from StarHub
• 200GB of local data
• 2,000 minutes of talk time
• 8GB of roaming data for Malaysia, forever

Every one of my must-haves, and then some. The plan also throws in 3GB of roaming data for a few Asian countries, including Thailand and Indonesia, which is a nice bonus for short trips.

How it has held up

The performance has been excellent. My previous line was StarHub 4G, and this is a clear upgrade, especially inside the MRT, where the old connection used to drop.

One honest caveat. This is a personal review, based on my needs. Yours might be different. If you barely use data, or you never travel to Malaysia, a cheaper plan will suit you better. The point is not to copy my plan. It is to write down what you need first, then let that list pick the plan for you.
